The Basics

Free creative arts day for young people who hear, see or sense things others don't (and a workshop for parents too)

We're running a one off creative workshop on 31st August in Whitechapel, from 11-4pm. At the same time, in the same place, we're hosting a workshop for parents and supporters too (giving them the chance to meet other parents, learn more about coping with voices and get some support too).

What will the day be like?

Using drama and music, we'll be looking at our strengths and all the things that help us to stay strong. You can choose from a range of activities including: song writing; community music; games; forum theatre; art project.

It'll be an opportunity to meet other young people who may be going through similar experiences and a chance to have some fun.

Will I have to talk about my voices?

No, although the day is for young people who have these experiences, you can say as much (or as little) about them as you like. It's up to you.

Where will it be?

We're running the day at The Level: Tower Hamlets Young People's Centre (2-12 Cambridge Heath Road, Whitechapel, London, E1 5QH). It's really near Whitechapel tube station, and only 10 minutes walk from Bethnal Green station.

How do I book a place?

All you need to do is contact Voice Collective (by phone - 020 7625 9042 or email - info@voicecollective.co.uk). We can either send you a booking form, or fill it out over the phone with you.

Ideas and experiences wanted for a new book aimed at young people who hear voices and their supporters

Sandra Escher is putting together a new book aimed at children and young people who hear voices (and their parents/supporters). The exciting bit is that she's asked Voice Collective to write a chapter for it!

Timing is tight, but we really wanted to ask you what you think we should include. Whether you're a young person who hears/sees things that others don't, or someone who supports them - we want to hear from you.

If you'd like to share your ideas, tips and experiences with readers of the books, or give us a clue about the most helpful things for us to write about, please download the surveys below and email them back to us as info@voicecollective.co.uk by Sunday 16th May 2010.

THANK YOU!
