Voice Collective Zines

In September 2021, a group of young people who hear voices (aged 16–25) joined artist Liv Wynter and Hearing the Voice, for a series of online workshops where they made zines exploring how hearing voices intersects with other aspects of their identity.

Click through the interactive bookshelf here to explore the results. We recommend viewing in full screen mode for the best experience.

The work was supported by a prize awarded to Hearing the Voice by the Arts and Humanities Research Council to explore diverse forms of story-telling.

Voice Collective Memes!

In November 2021, Voice Collective collaborated with Rachel Rowan Olive on a meme-making workshop. Young people shared their favourite memes and we even created a few of our own. Rachel designed this amazing piece to summarise some of the key ideas.

Here is the padlet where we put together all our memes. Please feel free to add any of your own! Please read the guidelines at the top of the page in terms of what is acceptable to share.

You can also view the artwork Rachel created from the workshop here

Voice Collective Poetry

In March 2022, we had a workshop with Bryony Littlefair where young people produced some amazing pieces of poetry, see below

Diagnosed with schizophrenia, hospitalized, drugged, Longden was discarded by a system that didn't know how to help her. Longden tells the moving tale of her years-long journey back to mental health, and makes the case that it was through learning to listen to her voices that she was able to survive.

The Soul Asylums

Schizophrenics or Voice Hearers?

Nikhil is a voice hearer, and wants to share some of the experiences with schizophrenia, in the hope that we can all together lift the stigma associated with having hallucinations.
